Back New Building Energy Act passed by the Bundestag

It's decided. After much back and forth, many discussions and improvements, the Building Energy Act (GEG), colloquially known as the “Heating Act”, was passed by the Bundestag on September 08, 2023. Nevertheless, the GEG amendment remains controversial, and experts still see a need for improvement.

In order to further save energy, it regulates the requirements for heating systems and buildings from January 01, 2024. This is intended to accelerate the energy transition in the heating sector, strengthen climate protection and reduce dependence on fossil fuels. These measures are also intended to help protect consumers from excessive surcharges on oil and gas.

From 2024, every newly installed heating system should be based on at least 65 percent renewable energy. There are a lot of things for tenants, landlords and owners to consider.

They find out here including the details of the requirements and the possibilities for promoting renewable heating.
